Change

Change is always within and around us. This time of year, as we feel the seasonal change, we may be more aware of change. What else are you noticing, beyond the lower sun, the shorter days and the final summer fruits you may be harvesting? Change is not only what we see and observe but what we create. We create change through the choices we make, large and small. Through this we shape, design and redesign our lives. Arielle Schwartz a psychologist and yoga teacher writes:

"Over time, you take the many threads of your life experiences and weave them into a single fabric. You weave in your strengths and your struggles. You begin to notice patterns and themes. Most importantly, you recognize yourself as the weaver. You learn that you can continue to integrate new threads at any time, for you are an active participant in the ongoing creation of your life story."

-Arielle Schwartz, The Post Traumatic Growth Guidebook

What changes are you creating?

The change that unfolds is often mysterious; steering us down paths we never imagined, leading us to a more fulfilling life than our initial desires.
My choices and experiences are expressing this mystery.

In May I am taking a group to Zambia on a Yoga Safari (stay tuned for details about May ’25). After this 12 day trip I plan to stay in Zambia for 4-5 months; returning to Hobart later in the year, November (ish).
Across these locations I will work in person and online. More details will be posted on my website and in the next newsletter.

How am I Moving?

Lots of squatting as I harvest, weed and mulch the garden; oh, and yes water, water, water.
Along with the reciprocal nurturing of the garden and myself, I am resting. Resting in between the planning and packing and all that comes with travel.

What am I Learning ?

I am continuing my Ayurveda studies that blends and expand my yoga, yoga therapy and nutrition trainings. My particular focus is woman’s health, and the optimisation of well-being throughout the numerous  stages of life.
Ayurveda is a complete lifestyle package into which I incorporate Building Better Bones  and extend my consultation to include PCOS, peri-menopause, menopause and everything in-between.

Where am I Travelling?

I am heading to the Gold Coast to a Women's Circle - Gratitude to Land Ceremony. An event created 'to celebrate the magic of all that has been and the beauty that lies in the roots and rocks of the place' called home.

Next stop for me:  Mosi-O-Tunya National Park, Livingstone, Zambia

Smell - what I am smelling?

The fragrance of stewed apple and cloves. It offers memories of childhood and in particular the apple crumble my mother made.

Sight - what am I seeing

When things do not go as we plan or there is an unhappy surprise in our life we can label this as ‘failure’. Kobe Bryant, the American basketball player, does not believe in failure. He suggests failure is a label, a construct we apply to things.
This short video may inspire you to rethink your perspective on some situations or perhaps it will support your view of life as one of learning

Taste - what I am eating?

Eggplant and Walnut Dip is simple to prepare and versatile. It is a tasty plant based canapé, sandwich filler or addition to any salad, grill or mixed platter.

Touch - what am I feeling?

Dirt on my hands as I dig in the garden.

Sound - what I am listening to?

I find African music enlivening.
A musician I regularly listen to is Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi, a Zimbabwean whose music reflects daily life. This particular song, Todii, has sweet and sad memories; all the while I return to it as it digs deep into my well of emotions.
